Engineering sucks big time

I'm depressed.

Maybe its because I've been all cooped up in my house the last week doing nothing but studying. I haven't been out at all for the past two days (except to buy bread and milk in the mornings, though I don't think that that really counts). And it sucks.

Having all this free time on my hands got me started thinking. Which is not necessarily a good thing. :-) It struck me, that here I was, twenty years old, and what was I doing? Studying.

Studying? Shit. I should be doing fun stuff, like playing cricket or chasing girls. Maybe even both. How about playing cricket WITH girls? ;-) Can you imagine what fun that would be! We could play at night under lights! (Please note that I'm very tastefully refraining from making a headlight joke here. He He He)

Life is short. I could die tomorrow. If I die at eighty years old, my life will still have been short. I firmly believe that people should do whatever makes them happy while they are alive (as long as they don't hurt anyone else), because they sure as hell can't do what makes them happy when they're dead.

And studying doesn't make me happy. In fact, it makes me sad. Unfortunately, I don't see any way out of it. Thats because to achieve my long term goals, I think I do need a degree. And it really hurts. Especially when you know that what you are studying is of no use in the general scheme of life anyway.

I mean really, who needs subjects like PPM? Hell, I don't even know what it stands for. (Provide Passing Marks? I hope thats true). And what about DSF? Whoever needed that in real life?

I mean, I mean, I can just about picture my first job interview. It'll go something like this:
INTERVIEWER: So Mustafa, can you handle responsibility and hard work?
ME: I'm not sure about that sir, we were never taught that in class. I do however, know the 8253 timer interfacing diagram.
INTERVIEWER: No, no, Mustafa, I mean are you responsible?
ME: I don't know Sir. It wasn't part of our I.T syllabus.
INTERVIEWER: Ok, what about interpersonal skills Mustafa? Do you get along well with people?
ME: No Sir. I hate people. I have, however, finally managed to crack the Eulerian problem. (big smile)
INTERVIEWER: Um, well, yes, we'll let you know if we uh, deem you suitable for the job. Don't call us, we'll call you.

Does anyone else see why I'm so pissed off?

I don't ask much out of life. I just want to get my degree, get a (hopefully) well paying job, maybe get my own flat and car. Become independent. That's my eventual goal -- stability. However ......

WHY SHOULD I START THINKING ABOUT THAT WHEN I CAN'T EVEN PASS MY STUPID S.E I.T EXAMS?!?
